Route 80 Interchange

Construction of an interchange between US Interstate Route 80 and NJ State Route 19, consisting of four bridge structures across 35 spans, overpasses and underpasses, embankments, highway ramps, curbs, sidewalks, ten retaining walls, pavements and utility relocations.
Columbus Avenue
Manhattan, New York City
Reconstruction of a 25-block section between 85th and 110th Streets. Project involved the installation of 8,400 lf of 48" and 36" steel water main and 12,500 lf of 12" and 20" water main while coordinating and implementing relocation of electric, gas, telephone and cable utilities.
Financial Services Tower Foundation
Jersey City, New Jersey
Financial services company office tower and 4-level underground garage. Excavation and construction of the foundation and utility relocations for the tallest building structure in New Jersey. The project footprint occupies two city blocks adjacent to the Hudson River. A reinforced concrete slurry wall, 60’ deep into rock with tieback anchors was used for excavation support. Project requirements set strict environmental controls. All excavation spoils were removed by barge for off-site treatment and disposal. Turner Construction Company managed this fast-track project.
Flushing Bay Storage Tank
Queens, New York

Construction of a 43 million gallon underground, reinforced concrete, storm water storage tank. The tank area is 450’ by 550’ with excavation depths ranging from 35’ to 80’. 2,000’ of excavation support/groundwater cut-off wall was constructed, using 5’ diameter concrete and H-Pile steel columns to depths of 95’ below ground surface. Excavation entailed the removal of 425,000 cy of contaminated and uncontaminated soils. Final tank construction required 125,000 cy of structural concrete, 16,000 tons of reinforcement, mechanical work and 600,000 sf of tank coating. Project includes construction of a 72,000 sf recreation facility plus adjacent maintenance facilities at surface level as well as green space with playing fields. EE Cruz managed this project through two phases over five years.

Piping/Leachate Collection System, Wetlands Mitigation
Preparation of site for construction of 1.8 million square foot mall, including piping of existing tidal drainage ditch with 4,800’ of 120” diameter pipe, five major concrete junction structures, and one outfall structure. Installation of site leachate collection system and hdpe liners. Installation of vertical hdpe membranes as containment for pcb-contaminated areas. Creation of approximately ten acres of new saltwater marshes as part of a wetland site mitigation plan.
